The Piano Project 2020

Welcome to our very first online music festival!

Students and teachers from 7 different studios – in Chatsworth, Queensburgh, Pinetown, Westville, Hillcrest and surrounds – have come together to celebrate hard work and passion for music!

Please enjoy their performances – all students have been receiving online tuition since March 2020, and they would love to read your comments! If you would like to leave a comment, please scroll to the bottom of this page.

Huge thanks to MELUDIA for sponsoring our prizes!

Meludia is an award-winning ear-training programme with 25 years of research behind it. Used by all the top conservatories & institutions world-wide, including our very own Drakensberg Boys Choir!

MG MUSIC SCHOOL was the first to use Meludia in South Africa, and can attest to the impact it makes on a student’s musical progress. So much so, that all their students now play the mobile app as a compulsory part of their studies.

COMPOSITION MASTERCLASSES

Three students will be fortunate enough to win a series of online Masterclasses on Composition with Mrs P. Crundwell, an accomplished South African composer & author. Mrs Crundwell has written over 25 books on music & composition.

Students are welcome to contact Mrs Crundwell should they wish to book a set of Composition Masterclasses with her. Details are on the flyer below.

What a professional and well put together online competition!

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact, not only on the physical and psychological health of the people of the world, but also on the resources we need to help us cope and recover from this crisis. Keeping culture alive is essential to our humanity. Your being able to bring this enlivening opportunity to our children, when so many cultural events have been canceled or postponed, is commendable. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Thank you also to Mrs Crundwell for your hard work and inspiration. Your insightful comments and useful suggestions will help the students continue to grow and develop despite lockdown restrictions.
